It is always good to recognise
Any service that's well done;
So janitors and cleaners
We praise you, every one.

You may think we haven't noticed
That everything is spick and span;
But boy when you're on your holidays
We noticed you did it like no one else can.

So we know we're going to miss you
Now that you're going to retire;
We'll miss you grinning as you pass us by
Leaving us in all this mire.

Thank You! Thank You! for a job well done
We've all put in the pot;
We thought we'd put up this plaque
Down there at your favorite spot.

Fag breaks you were there
I don't think you missed even one;
Joking aside you will be a big miss
The retirement jackpot you have won.

Lazy days and gentle nights
Sleep whenever you want;
Time to do all those things
That you had to say"No,I can't"

Good Luck we wish you
We're so jealous don't you see?
We'd give pretty much anything
For the name on that card to be ME!

I feel like my body has gotten totally out of shape,
so I got my doctor's permission to
join a fitness club and start exercising.
I decided to take an aerobics class for seniors.
I bent, twisted, gyrated, jumped up and down, and perspired for an hour.
But,
by the time I got my leotards on,
the class was over.

The golf club days now melt into one
I don't know how I found the time;
To go to work and do odd jobs
Even when the sun does shine.

Time hasn't stopped or even slowed
I though that I'd have time on my hands;
It's going even faster now
The timer full of that sand.

My friends are what keep me sane
And it's good to keep in touch;
As friends and family are
The ones I love so much.

As a chapter closes in your life,
And a new one starts for you,
May your years be filled with all the things
You've been looking forward to!

All the meaning has gone out of weekends
Now you have a Life
With half the money
And twice the wife
Have a terrific retirement
You earned it!

It always was the bit before you die
But now it is the Golden years!
We're allowed to do so much more
Although I've heard, there are some tears.

Not from us you understand
But we give the kids a fright;
'Cos we give them a run for their money now
And can boogie into the night!

Many people don't know how to stop
So they send us to have lessons;
We've shown them a thing or to
Just who do they think they're messin'!

We've worked and worked and need to find
A passion an interest to call our own;
Not all are into needlework
Although many seeds we've sown.

Travelling is a Gods send
It can take up a lot of the day;
Sittin on the Metro
Going round and round "I say"

Meeting friends and neighbours
And shopping in the Toon;
We have them round for tea
And say " Hope to see you soon."

The grandchildren are a treasure
And make us laugh so much;
We find them very tiring
Those little such and such.

We don't know how we found the time
To go to so called work;
As we're so busy from dusk to dawn
I now have a choice to shirk or not to shirk.
