May we get together and say
To God we are grateful in every way;
Your grand creation, our sustenance provides
But with glorious choice we enjoy every day.

The colors, the tastes and the textures too
We pray to you to give thanks;
With a full heart overflowing with love
Our joy and laughter nothing outranks.

So for the seasons and the weather
We want to share our blessings;
And celebrate together and ask you
To watch over this gathering.
Happy Thanksgiving!

The bounty and the goodness
You share around the world;
Tells us how great you are
And how your love unfurled.

We've spoilt it methinks
With the pollution around the globe;
Please send your love and goodness there
As into our hearts we probe.

Donations are needed but work also too
So lets help and innovate all in good time;
And don't just give a fish for a day
But how to fish and feed for a lifetime.

You've shared your love with us
We need to share ours too;
Because the whole point of everything
Is to become just like you!

The Little Pilgrim

Cranberries dripping down my chin
Have stained my pilgrim suit.
I ate too much Thanksgiving day
But I don't give a hoot.
I slurped a pile of dressing,
Gobbled down a turkey thigh,
Dribbled messy cranberries
Thankful Week before Thanksgiving,
I limp around real strange.
Huddle in the corner,
As though I have the mange.
All the other turkeys,
Just gobble, gobble on.
I'm silent, and I act
As if my gobbler's gone. Everyone is thankful
On Thanksgiving Day.
Friday it's forgotten.
You all go on your way.
I know what thankful is
So listen when I say.
"It's great to be a turkey,
After Thanksgiving Day."

Count your blessings instead of your crosses;
Count your gains instead of your losses.
Count your joys instead of your woes;
Count your friends instead of your foes.
Count your smiles instead of your tears;
Count your courage instead of your fears.
Count your full years instead of your lean;
Count your kind deeds instead of your mean.
Count your health instead of your wealth;
Count on God instead of yourself.

**

May your stuffing be tasty
May your turkey plump,

May your potatoes and gravy
Have never a lump.

May your yams be delicious
And your pies take the prize,

And may your Thanksgiving dinner
Stay off your thighs!

For each new morning with its light,
For rest and shelter of the night,
For health and food, for love and friends,
For everything Thy goodness sends.
Ralph Waldo Emerson

Thanksgiving

The year has turned its circle,
The seasons come and go.
The harvest all is gathered in
And chilly north winds blow.

Orchards have shared their treasures,
The fields, their yellow grain,
So open wide the doorway ---
Thanksgiving comes again!
Old Rhyme.
